French Authorities Launch Formal Probe Into British Woman’s Fatal Stabbing

Judicial authorities initially detained the suspect in 2025 during preliminary questioning before releasing her. Discovery and Family Response
When the tragedy occurred in April of the previous year, Karen Carter’s husband Alan learned of her passing through a cousin who had encountered news on a local community Facebook page. He subsequently received official confirmation after his assistant contacted local law enforcement.
Alan described his wife as a warm, sociable individual who “wouldn’t hurt a fly,” noting that her death has been deeply “traumatic” for their family. He shared personal reflections about their relationship and her character:
“I’m an introvert, and she’s the exact opposite. She’s an extrovert, she loves people, she loves to have fun. People love her, she has a good heart,” he said.
“She’s the one who would bring home the lost dog, or cat, or whatever. She’s that sort of person. Everyone liked her. That’s why I married her. She’s just lovely.”
