Historical Sexual Offences Charges Against Gary Glitter

Gary Glitter charged with historical sexual – Paul Gadd, known by his stage name Gary Glitter, has been formally accused of sexual offences from the late 1970s. The Metropolitan Police confirmed the charges, which span incidents occurring between 1978 and 1981. These allegations include one instance of unlawful sexual activity with a girl under 13 and three cases of indecent assault involving a girl under 14.

Investigation and Legal Proceedings

The case was initiated after the Met received reports on 9 January 2025. Gadd is set to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on 5 August. During the probe, he was first questioned on 22 July 2025. The offences are believed to have taken place at a Kensington residence, with one individual identified as the alleged victim.

Victim Support and Prosecution

Specialist officers are currently providing support to the accuser, who has been informed of the legal developments. Gary Glitter remains in custody at HMP Cannings Wood in Devon. According to Bethan David, a Deputy Chief Crown Prosecutor with CPS London, the charges stem from allegations of abuse during the 1978–1981 period. She emphasized, “Our prosecutors have determined there is enough evidence to proceed and that the public interest supports this action.”
