14-Year-Old Boy Charged with Murder Following Discovery of Missing Girl's Body

Boy 14 charged with murder after - A 14-year-old boy has been formally accused of murder after the remains of a missing girl were found in Duffryn Park, Blaina, Blaenau Gwent. The body was identified as belonging to Lilly, another 14-year-old girl who had been reported missing earlier in the week. The search for Lilly, last seen on the High Street in Blaina on Saturday evening, led to the discovery on Monday at approximately 22:10 BST.

The unidentified boy, who is in police custody, is set to appear at Newport Magistrates' Court on Friday. Gwent Police's Det Ch Insp Steven Thomas expressed support for Lilly's family and friends during this challenging period. He also highlighted the importance of public conduct, particularly online, in ensuring the investigation remains unaffected.

"Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Lilly at this difficult time," said Det Ch Insp Steven Thomas. "We understand that there has been a great deal of interest in this ongoing investigation. It is vital that people consider how their language, especially comments made online, could affect our ability to bring anyone found to have committed a criminal offence to justice."

Jenny Hopkins from the Crown Prosecution Service added that "there should be no reporting, commentary or sharing of information online which could in any way prejudice these proceedings." Authorities are continuing their inquiries, with cordons still in place at Duffryn Park for further examinations.
