"Some 48 hours before the documentary aired - I had undergone a near-5 hour surgery and somehow found myself lying in bed recovering from extensive endometriosis surgery, a hysterectomy and a gallbladder removal. Triple threat. Go big or go home. Life imitating art."
She recalled being well enough on broadcast night to watch only the final ten minutes of her own programme from her hospital bed, calling the experience "totally surreal."

The need for surgery became urgent after an ultrasound performed while she was filming the documentary's closing scene uncovered a problem with her gallbladder. In her words, things suddenly became "urgent and non negotiable."

"Early indications are that the pain is very much improved - although I am still healing from the surgery itself so that also feels uncertain and frightening to admit - even to myself."
