Teen Fatally Stabbed in Battersea, Three Minors in Custody
Girl and two boys held over - A 17-year-old boy was found dead after being stabbed in Battersea, south-west London, following a reported conflict. The incident occurred near Lavender Hill around 04:20 BST on Saturday, with Jamal Coombes identified as the victim. He was pronounced unconscious at the scene after sustaining multiple injuries.
The Metropolitan Police have detained a girl and two boys, aged 15 and 14 respectively, on suspicion of murder. The arrests followed reports of a confrontation that led to the fatal stabbing. Detectives are currently seeking additional information from witnesses to further investigate the case.
Police Appeal for Clues
Emergency services, including paramedics and the London Air Ambulance, responded to the call at Glycena Road. Jamal was treated before his condition deteriorated. Authorities have informed his family and are providing support through specialized officers.
"Our thoughts are with Jamal's family during this difficult time," said Det Ch Insp Brian Howie. "The community has been deeply affected by this tragedy. If you witnessed the incident or have any relevant details, please contact patrol officers in the area this week."
Howie emphasized that the stabbing likely resulted from an altercation. He urged residents to share any footage from CCTV, doorbells, or mobile phones captured between 03:30 and 05:00 on Saturday, particularly from Glycena Road, Acanthus Road, or Pountney Road. "Even small observations might help uncover critical evidence," he added.
