Teen Charged in Golders Green Ambulance Attack

Teen charged over Golders Green ambulance - An 18-year-old individual faces charges of aiding an offender after a fire damaged four ambulances owned by Jewish charities in Golders Green, a London neighborhood. The blaze triggered an explosion, causing approximately £1 million in losses to the vehicles and medical gear, while nearby residential buildings and a synagogue were also impacted.

Subhan Ahmed, the accused, is alleged to have arranged for his car to be dismantled as part of the attack, possibly to shield others from legal consequences. This marks his fifth appearance in connection with the incident, which occurred on 23 March. Earlier, Hamza Iqbal (20), Rehan Khan (19), Judex Atshatshi (18), and a 17-year-old boy—whose identity remains confidential—were released on bail until August.

Charges and Legal Context

Iqbal, Khan, and the unnamed teenager are charged with arson that disregarded the risk of endangering lives. Atshatshi, meanwhile, faces additional accusations of deliberate damage with reckless disregard for human safety. Authorities have indicated the event was a deliberate assault on the Jewish community, aligning it with broader investigations into recent attacks on Jewish sites in London by counter-terrorism units.

“This incident is part of a series of targeted assaults on Jewish targets in London, which are currently under scrutiny by Metropolitan Police counter-terrorism officers,” stated prosecutors.

Following the attack, the BBC has urged listeners to engage with BBC Radio London for updates and encourages following their social media channels for further news. The public is invited to share story ideas via hello.bbclondon@bbc.co.uk.
