Arthur Fery Invites Prince George and Princess Charlotte to Play Tennis
Unlikely Encounter at Wimbledon
Arthur Fery invites Prince George and Princess – Arthur Fery, a British Wimbledon semi-finalist, met the Princess of Wales and invited Prince George and Princess Charlotte to play tennis with him after their encounter at the men’s singles final. The royal family arrived at the All England Club shortly after 15:00 BST on Sunday, greeted by a standing ovation as they entered the royal box.
“I know the whole family are all tennis fans, so I told her if her kids ever wanted to hit, I’m free,” said Fery, who turned 24 on Sunday.
Royal Recognition and Birthday Wishes
Prince William and Catherine congratulated the tennis player on his run to the semi-finals and wished him a happy birthday. Fery also received a birthday card from the Prince and Princess of Wales, which he expressed gratitude for during a post-interaction conversation.
Speaking after their meeting, he highlighted Catherine’s attendance and noted it was “good to meet her finally.” Fery shared that she had wished him good luck for the rest of the year and congratulated him on his performance over the past two weeks.
Other Royal Attendees and Celebrities
Lord Frederick Windsor, his wife Sophie Winkleman, and Lady Gabriella Kingston were among the royal family members watching the men’s singles final between Jannik Sinner and Alexander Zverev on Centre Court. They joined Australian actress Nicole Kidman, American actor Rami Malek, British singer Raye, and former world number one Stan Smith.
Historic Achievement for Fery
After Sinner secured his second consecutive championship title, Kate, who serves as patron of the All England Club, presented the trophy to the victor. Fery, who arrived at the Championships as the world number 114 and had never advanced beyond the second round of a Grand Slam, defied expectations to reach the semi-finals.
He will be confirmed as the new British number one and will rise to 36th in the world rankings on Monday, alongside earning £900,000 in prize money. Fery’s unexpected journey to Centre Court has already sparked discussions about his former coaches’ pride, with Catherine sharing photos of her family reuniting after completing the Three Peaks Challenge.
