Bill Gates Testifies He Never Shared a Personal Bond with Jeffrey Epstein
Bill Gates says Epstein wanted personal – Billionaire Bill Gates testified before a congressional committee on Wednesday, asserting that he never formed a personal connection with Jeffrey Epstein and severed ties after the convicted sex offender failed to secure funding for his philanthropy. The Microsoft co-founder voluntarily appeared in Washington for a private session with the House Oversight Committee, which is investigating Epstein’s activities. During the hearing, Gates revealed that Epstein targeted influential individuals for fundraising purposes and described the relationship as a strategic alliance.
Gates mentioned that Epstein used his marital affairs to exert pressure, but he denied any involvement in criminal acts. “I never witnessed Epstein engaged in continuous wrongdoing, nor did I have any reason to suspect it,” Gates stated. “While he may have aimed to build a closer bond, I remained indifferent and never returned the favor.” He emphasized his hope that Epstein’s victims would receive the justice they deserved.
“Epstein was working to use information about my infidelities—alongside numerous falsehoods—to pressure me into re-engaging with him,” Gates added.
The committee’s chair, Democrat Robert Garcia, noted that Gates was aware of Epstein’s potential for serious charges and continued interactions to gain financial support. Republican member Tim Burchett described the questioning as “intense,” with Gates offering cautious responses. The hearing highlighted Epstein’s tactics of associating with high-profile figures to amplify his influence.
Gates explained that their collaboration began in 2011, three years after Epstein’s Florida conviction for soliciting prostitution. The partnership expanded as they discussed fundraising for Gates’ global health initiatives. However, in 2014, after Epstein assembled a group of potential donors, Gates realized the promises would not materialize. “At that point, I concluded Epstein would never fulfill his commitments,” he said, and terminated all communication.
Documents released by the DOJ in January revealed thousands of mentions of Gates alongside Epstein, including a photo of him near an aircraft with Epstein’s pilot present. Gates confirmed he traveled with Epstein on a private jet. Unverified emails attributed to Epstein claimed Gates had affairs with married women, contracted an STI from Russian women, and helped obtain drugs for treatment. Another email alleged he tried to discreetly provide antibiotics to his wife, Melinda, to shield her from the infection.
Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein’s longtime associate, is currently serving a 20-year sentence. She participated virtually in February but exercised her right to avoid answering questions. Gates has consistently denied knowledge of Epstein’s illegal activities, though he admitted to having affairs with two Russian women.
