This marks the tenth straight night of aerial operations, following President Donald Trump’s pledge to hold Iran accountable for the loss of American personnel. Two soldiers were confirmed dead by the Pentagon, while a third service member remains unaccounted for after an Iranian attack on Jordan’s Muwaffaq Salti base over the weekend.
Iran’s Response and Strategic Claims
Iran has labeled the strikes as part of a “full-scale war” with the U.S., according to its leader, President Masoud Pezeshkian. The country’s military and communication facilities were hit, with Tehran asserting it targeted installations in Bahrain, Jordan, and Syria. Despite the conflict, diplomatic channels are still active, as both sides continue to exchange messages through intermediaries, even after a ceasefire agreement collapsed.
“Iran had been hit very hard the previous night in honour of three US soldiers killed recently,” stated Trump, referencing two casualties in Jordan and one in Iraq.
Regional Defense Measures and Air Threats
On Monday, Jordan’s military intercepted three Iranian missiles, as sirens across the nation signaled an incoming attack. Kuwait’s armed forces reported thwarting drone incursions from Iran, while Bahrain noted that Iranian drones had aimed at its air navigation systems. Though the systems were targeted, traffic flow remained uninterrupted.
Oil Tanker Incidents and U.S. Disputes
Iran’s state media claimed that two oil tankers exploded while traversing the Strait of Hormuz, calling the route “unsafe and hazardous.” The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) reported the vessels were “brought to a halt” by the blasts. However, the U.S. Central Command disputed these assertions, maintaining that the incidents were part of broader regional hostilities.
