Man denies attempted murder of 10 people – Emergency responders arrived at Huntingdon Station as the train came to a halt. The LNER service, which had departed Doncaster for London King’s Cross, was diverted and stopped there shortly after arriving at Peterborough on 1 November 2025. Passengers reported multiple 999 calls from aboard, prompting crews to intervene.
Court Appearance and Pleas
Anthony Williams, 33, from Langford Road in Peterborough, appeared via video link at Cambridge Crown Court. He denied the attempted murder of 10 individuals stabbed during a train attack. The defendant also rejected 11 additional charges, including four more attempted murder allegations linked to earlier incidents in Peterborough and east London.
Williams said “not guilty” to each charge as he sat hunched in the courtroom, wearing a white T-shirt.
Huntingdon Station was closed for two days to collect evidence. The 18:25 train service from Doncaster was redirected to the station, where Williams was apprehended. His trial is set for 26 October, with 21 total charges pending.

The 10 attempted murder charges relate to victims on the train near Huntingdon on 1 November 2025, including Jonathan Gjoshe, Sachin Balakrishnan, David Presland, Scott Bletcher, Scott Green, Kevin Deely, Stephen Crean, Raza Aslam, Michael Paffett, and Samir Zitouni. He is also accused of trying to kill Dawid Taborski, William Ogelby, and a 14-year-old boy in Peterborough the day before. An additional charge involves a 17-year-old in East London, targeted during the early hours of 1 November.
The remaining seven charges include three counts of possessing a bladed weapon, one assault on a police officer, and one common assault on another train.
